Achievements (while employed by the Cabell County Sheriff's Department)

  • Selected by the FBI after the events of September 11, 2001 to help establish a National Data Exchange Program
  • First officer in department history to be completely promoted through the ranks of Deputy, Corporal, Sergeant, and Lieutenant.
  • Procured more than $800,000 of equipment, including ballistic vests, vehicles and weapons through military programs - all at no expense to Cabell County taxpayers.
  • Developed and taught the department Firearms Safety and Training course from 1989 through retirement in 2007, which approximately 4,600 participants completed.
  • Department firearms instructor since 1990.
  • Worked in all divisions of the department: Patrol, Courts & Processing, and the Detective Bureau.
  • Past President of the Cabell County Deputy Sheriff's Association
  • Past President of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #122
  • Past Commander of the Detective Division.
  • Past Commander of the Courts and Processes Division.
  • Established and commanded the Department of Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) since its development in 1996.
