Below is a letter from Sue Meehling, family member of 3-year-old murder victim Allyson Christian:
To Whom It May Concern:
This letter is in reference to Thomas W. McComas. I met Tom at the most horrible moment of my entire life. It was the evening of September 21, 1996 when my precious three-year-old granddaughter Allyson Marie Christian was brutally murdered.
Actually, a patrol officer responded to the call at the time, but realized he did not have the expertise that this case would need and called Corporal McComas in to take over the case. From that moment on, he could not have worked any harder for our family than he would have for one of his own. The professionalism and kindness that he showed our family was outstanding. Tom took our family under his wing and was there for us.
As a grandmother and as a person who was determined to see that this monster pay for stealing our first-born grandchild from us, Tom never got tired of any of our many calls to him inquiring on the case. Due to his dilegence and hard work, the accused was found guilty and received the maximum sentence of eighty years. Our famiy will always be indebted to Tom and all the others who worked non-stop on our case. There is no doubt that Tom will give the same 110% dedication to the citizens of Cabell County as Sheriff that he gave to our family. Tom McComas will always have our family's support in whatever his ventures may be.
